Thank you so much for this. I have been pining to do the Camino do at least 5 years, and am finally going in late April. It is oddly difficult to understand, or explain why it is so important for me to go. I also wonder why it is so important for me to be selfish and go alone. I don't want to have to worry about anyone else. I feel slightly guilty about leaving many people who will miss me. I question whether it is just a 'bucket list ' item or trying to escape my life. Yet, I am so hoping for all those things you mention. Your words help me justify this journey at least to myself.

Carbon fiber construction ( not aluminum) in a trekking pole makes them ultra lightweight. We like the Z-Pole style from Black Diamond so we can hide our poles in our pack from potential thieves before getting to our albergue! There are many to choose from! ( See more of our gear recommendations! )
